Fossil Free Caribe: A Platform for Action
Summary
Fossil Free Caribe is a nonprofit advocating for climate justice and sustainable energy in the Caribbean. They came to us with a strong brand book designed by Pupila (https://www.pupila.co/) and the urgent need for a digital platform. The challenge: deliver an MVP website in time for their participation at the United Nations Ocean Conference in France.
The Challenge
-
Urgent Deadline: Site needed to be live before the Ocean Conference.
-
Fresh Brand Assets: Pupila’s brand book had to be translated into a digital identity quickly.
-
Content Prioritization: Decide what core pages and content would go into the MVP while planning for future scalability.
Our Strategy
We focused on speed without compromising brand consistency or scalability. The plan:
-
Rapidly prototype layouts in Figma.
-
Implement Pupila’s design system into responsive templates.
-
Prioritize key content (about, campaigns, and calls to action) for launch.
-
Build an MVP foundation flexible enough to expand post-conference.
Execution
-
Delivered the MVP website on time for the Ocean Conference.
-
Created a WordPress structure optimized for speed, flexibility, and scalability.
-
Designed clear navigation and content blocks for campaigns, advocacy, and updates.
-
Integrated visual storytelling aligned with Pupila’s design direction.
Adaptation & Evolution
After the conference, we extended the MVP into a more complete platform:
-
Expanded content sections for reports, campaigns, and news.
-
Optimized site performance for ongoing advocacy.
-
Built a scalable framework so Fossil Free Caribe can continue to grow their online presence.
Results
-
On-time launch for a major international event.
-
Brand-consistent website that amplified their message on a global stage.
-
Adapted platform now serving as a hub for climate action campaigns in the Caribbean.
